After a decade of experience performing on the YAT stage (my first show here was Annie in 2012!!), I am ecstatic to be on the other side of the table for the first time as your musical director!!  I could not be happier to be making my debut as a musical director with Descendants; Heroes and villains (and everyone in between), an epic Disney pop score, and songs originated by absolute legends like Kristin Chenoweth and Dove Cameron!?   What could be more exciting!?  I cannot wait to bring the wickedly good music of this show to life with our cast!  I have learned almost everything I know about theatre and music from my time at Young Actors' Theatre, so I hope I can inspire the next generation of young performers and spark their love for theatre.   

Mary Rose Vadeboncoeur is thrilled to be making her debut as a musical director in Descendants!  She has been performing on the YAT stage since their 2012 production of Annie and even now, 10 years later, she sees YAT as a second home.  In 2019 she was named “Best Actress” at the Broadway San Diego Awards and later went on to compete in the Jimmy Awards in New York City.  She is currently working towards her BA in Theatre Performance at SDSU and can be seen performing at both Sea World and Sesame Place.  She also currently works at Steele Canyon High School as a vocal coach for the drama department.  Select performance credits include Eponine (Les Miserables), Maria (Sound of Music), Mrs. Wormwood (Matilda), and Katherine Blake (Freaky Friday).  Mary Rose has experienced many firsts here at YAT; first full-length musical, first cabaret, first time working on the tech side of things and running a show, and now her first time as music director!  She would like to thank Katie, Alicia, and the entire cast and crew for including her on this journey!  @maryrose_vad13
